Weekly Updates
September 3-6
Students will finish giving their first speech this week. Each speaker will be assessed based on a variety of things including eye contact with audience, having confidence, speaking with enthusiasm, etc. Graded rubrics will be returned to each student next week. Students will be given an extra credit opportunity to not only improve their public speaking skills, but to improve their grade.
This week, we will look at a variety of famous speeches. We will discuss things the speakers did to draw in the audience. Students also will learn about a technique to remember information about a speech called Mind Mapping. Mind Mapping is a fantastic strategy for anxious speakers who may forget what they want to say.
